Last updated: October 2026. All specs are for men's US size 10.
You don't need to spend $190 to get a good basketball shoe. Brands put a lot of their best ideas into cheaper "team" and takedown models, and some of them test almost as well as shoes that cost twice as much. The difference is usually in fancier foams, premium materials and the name on the tongue.
Every shoe on this list launched at $100 or less. Prices go up and down all the time, especially online, so use the buttons to check the current price. Weights are for one men's US size 10 shoe.
Our rating: 4.3/5 (RunRepeat lab score 87/100) · Weight (men's US 10): 12.0 oz · Launch price: $80
The Precision 7 is one of the best values in basketball right now. RunRepeat gave it an 87 out of 100, called it "incredible value for money," and said its cushioning and rebound are "excellent for its price." It is very light at 12.0 oz, has solid grip, breathes well, and is OK for streetball.
It doesn't use any of Nike's named cushioning technologies, and it runs narrow, so wide feet should look at the next picks.
Our rating: 4.3/5 (RunRepeat lab score 87/100) · Weight (men's US 10): 12.5 oz · Launch price: $95
The G.T. Cut Academy is a cheaper version of Nike's G.T. Cut line, and it brings a forefoot Air Zoom unit with it. RunRepeat scored it 87, praising its lockdown, light weight and impact protection. Extra eyelets let you lace it the way you like, and its toebox is roomier than average near the big toe. It isn't the most durable shoe and can run warm.
Our rating: 4.3/5 (RunRepeat lab score 86/100) · Weight (men's US 10): 13.0 oz · Launch price: $85
Giannis Antetokounmpo's budget line keeps getting better. RunRepeat gave the Immortality 4 an 86, with a 94 for stability, and called it "super versatile (positionless)." It has a wide landing platform and lots of impact protection. It runs about half a size small and is not made for outdoor courts.
Our rating: 4.1/5 (RunRepeat 81/100 and r/BBallShoes 82/100) · Weight (men's US 10): 14.7 oz · Launch price: $95
If you play mostly at the park, the Dame Certified is the budget pick. RunRepeat scored it 87 for outdoor use, and its toebox is roomy at the big toe. Both RunRepeat (81) and the r/BBallShoes database (82) rate it well overall.
Our rating: 4.2/5 (RunRepeat 83/100 and r/BBallShoes 85/100) · Weight (men's US 10): 12.5 oz · Launch price: $90
RunRepeat recommends the Air Max Impact 4 for "beginner players," "thriftier buyers," and outdoor hoopers. It scored 86 for outdoor play and 83 overall. Its traction is consistently good and the cushioning is responsive. It needs a short break-in and isn't for wide feet.
Our rating: 4.1/5 (r/BBallShoes Shoe Database overall 82/100) · Weight (men's US 10): 11.7 oz · Launch price: $100
The One Take 4 weighs just 11.7 oz in size 10, making it the lightest shoe in this guide. It launched at $100. The r/BBallShoes database gives it 89 for traction and 82 overall, and says it fits "slightly roomy; good for wide."
Our rating: 4.0/5 (The Hoops Geek expert rating 7.9/10 (3 reviews)) · Weight (men's US 10): about 11.9 oz (estimate) · Launch price: $74.99
The older Precision 6 launched at just $74.99. The Hoops Geek calls it an "excellent shoe for budget-conscious players," and it holds up OK outdoors. It fits narrow to regular feet best.
Our rating: 3.6/5 (RunRepeat lab score 73/100) · Weight (men's US 10): 13.5 oz · Launch price: $70
At a $70 launch price, the Lockdown 6 is the cheapest shoe here. RunRepeat scored it 73 overall, so it is a step down in performance, but it says it suits players who "need an affordable entry-level basketball shoe" and want "a durable shoe that doesn't break the bank." It is a fine first shoe for casual players.
